My style has developed through my many years of practice and training. Some of the areas of psychology that I draw on are the psychodynamic, family systems, attachment, object relations, and analytic models.
During our first meeting, we explore together what brought you to seek help. Together we look at what is occurring in your life that is causing difficulties, and see where you may perhaps be hindering yourself unintentionally. It is during this time that we create a working relationship, one which will help you make changes in your life situation.
Occasionally, I may suggest a medical consultation with your physician or other professionals if your difficulties would benefit from such care. The length of therapy depends on what you want to accomplish. I am trained in both brief and long term therapy. For the most part, therapy is a guided process where you learn about yourself and develop the capacity to handle emotional difficulties in a healthier manner.
